Musiq and Kindred Release Projects, NuSoul Tour Kicks Off


Twelve-time Grammy nominated Musiq Soulchild Releases Single, “Simple Things” Kindred the Family Soul Releases ‘Welcome to My World’ Video Kicked off 22-city Tour w /Lyfe Jennings and Avery*Sunshine last Friday, Feb. 3rd in Raleigh, NC.

Some of soul music’s favorite artists added extra spice to the 22-city NuSoul Revival Tour’s kickoff by releasing musical delights – Recently nominated for his 12 th Grammy, Musiq Soulchild released “Simple Things” from his upcoming project on Feb 3 rd while the new “Ashford & Simpson” aka The “First Couple of Soul” or Kindred the Family Soul released their latest video "Welcome To My World & the day after.

Intent on giving attendees what they had been anticipating for months, multi-award winning songstress, Avery*Sunshine opened up the show with a blast of rays. Known for encouraging fans to #ShineNoMatterWhat, the songstress delighted her fans with her powerful vocals and animated set. “Uplifting the audience and reminding them to keep inspired and moving strong. She closed the house down as if she was a final act, being a breath of fresh air giving way for the rest of the musical evening.” (Southern Laced magazine) Kindred the Family Soul, as always captivated the audience with “Stars” from their debut album, Surrender to Love which peaked at #29 on the Billboard R&B chart. All heads stayed angled towards the beloved couple as their musical journey continued with “Far Away” also from their first album, “All My People” from their last project, Legacy of Love which recently received the SoulTracks.com "Readers Choice" album of the year, and more. Lyfe Jennings did what he is best known for – educating, motivating - storytelling through his impressive body of work with that raspy voice that fans have loved since he splashed on the scene. Not to be outdone, Award-winning host, MC Lightfoot – another fan fave - kept the flow going, between sets, with laughter. Check out a brief clip below.

And, of course, the Hip Hop Soul artist, Musiq Soulchild, had the audience up on their feet through the end of his set. His musical journey included “Buddy” which peaked at #2 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (Billboard) from his fourth album, Luvanmusiq and “Just friends” from his debut album Aijuswanaseing which spent 37 weeks on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart – peaking at #6. The NuSoul Revival Tour seeks to send the message that “Good Music Still Lives!” while continuing to support artists whose music is the soundtrack, and in some cases, a blueprint of areas of our lives.
